Making Ginger Beer

 Aim:

I want to learn how to brew ginger beer.

Research:

What is alcohol

How to make Ginger Beer

Method:

Equipment:

  • Ginger
  • Warm water
  • Yeast
  • Cup
  • Spoon

Instructions:
  1. get your equipment
  2. put 1 table spoon of ginger in the cup
  3. Half fill the cup with warm water
  4. Add 1 teaspoon of yeast
  5. Mix it all together
  6. Leave it to ferment for a week
  7. After a week taste it

Red cabbage indicator

 Aim:

I want to find out how red cabbage can tell if a liquid is an acid or base

Research:



Method:

Equipment:

  • Red cabbage
  • Hydrochloric acid
  • Soolium hydroxide
  • Dropper
  • Warm water
  • Test tubes
  • Beaker
Instructions
  1. Get your equipment
  2. Teacher will give you red cabbage.
  3. put warm water in your beaker.
  4. tear parts of your red cabbage.
  5. put the pieces of the red cabbage in your beaker
  6. mix gently to reveal the color purple in your beaker (the darker the better).
  7. Now get your dropper and add 3 full drops in each test tube.
  8. after that carefully get your acids and try make different colors.

Making Sherbet

Aim:
I want to find out how to make sherbet.

Research:

Method:

Equipment:
  • Popsicle stick
  • Citric acid
  • Raro
  • Baking soda
  • Paper
Instructions
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Get your equipment.
  3. Put the paper on your table.
  4. Get a pile of the 3 powders.
  5. using your popsicle stick mix some of each powder.
  6. Taste the sherbet
  7. If there is too much baking soda add more citric acid.
  8. If there is too much citric acid, add more baking soda.
  9. If it doesn't taste good, add more Raro.

Blind taste testing

 Aim:

I want to find out if food taste differently when you cant see or smell

  • Popsicle stick
 Instruction:

  1. Get your equipment!
  2. Wash your hands
  3. Put your blind fold
  4. Pinch your nose
  5. Unblock your nose

Discussion:
We taste because taste buds have sensitive microscopic hairs called microvilli and it sends a message to our brain saying how something taste.

The different taste are Sour, bitter, sweet and salt.

no smell does not affect our taste.

Eating Hot Chilli :0

 Aim:

I want to find out how to get rid of burning chili off my tongue

Research:




Method:

Equipment:

  • Fizzy
  • Popsicle stick
  • Carolina reaper chili
  • Little cups
  • Timer
Instructions:
  1. Get your equipment.
  2. Scoop some chili on your stick.
  3. Start the timer and eat the chili.
  4. Stop the timer after 4 minutes.
  5. Rate how hot your mouth is.
  6. Do experiment again but drink water after 2 minutes.
  7. Do experiment again but drink Coca-Cola after 2 minutes.
  8. Drink milk.


Results:

10/10 IT BURNS >:(

10/10 Still ARGHH spicy ;(

8/10 it dint burn at first but after like 13 seconds the burn came back

3/10 the burn went away but a bit came back happy happy

Bacteria around our school

 Aim:

I want to find out what type of bacteria are in our school.

Research

Method:

Equipment:

  • Cue tips/cotton buds
  • Agar Plates
  • Marker pen
Instructions
  1. Get your equipment.
  2. Wash hands.
  3. Use a marker to write your name an the location on the lid.
  4. Wet the cue tip and swab the surface of something.
  5. Gently swab the agar plate.
  6. Tape around the agar plate.
  7. Leave the agar plate in an incubator overnight.
  8. Observe the plate the next day.
Results:


White bacteria: (Poo bacteria)
Pink bacteria: (Food poisoning)
Red bacteria: (Brain Infection)
Yellow bacteria: (Throat infection)
(Orange is the same as yellow)
